#307 Monday Flower: Dandelion

2009.11.02

[Taraxacum - Dandelion. La Herrería Forest, El Escorial - Madrid]

Wanna make a wish?

Where do traditions for make a wish come from?
Who did invent that thing of throw a coin into a well?
Or make a wish when you blow out the candles on your birthday cake?
Or when two people say the same word at same time...
Or when someone picks up one of your fallen eyelashes and you blow on his finger, and the eyelash fly away...

SADHYA They are all lovely - can you imagine an unlovely dandelion clock? - I can't, but #2 is also extraordinary because of the view of where the seeds' stem attaches to the head of the plant. I have never really seen this before, so thank you for showing me!!!

Ryana Explaining the origin of wishes I did not found, but I found this nice wish:
The First Star
This happens every day, so it's good for your more mundane wishing.
When you see the first star that appears in the night sky, recite this rhyme:
Star light, star bright
First star I see tonight
I wish I may, I wish I might
Have the wish I wish tonight.

Then make your wish. You get even more mojo if you watched the sunset first.

Beautiful post!!

onlyricky Kids usually love these, when they are like a white ball, they can blow it! (when you do it you’re making the cycle of them continuing ).
Here in Portugal , kids have a funny way to treat these plants! When they see one in the path, they pick it and they look to their friends and say :
Is your dad Bald!?
So you must say yes or No
Then he/she blow the dandelion and if the ball gone completely , your dad is bald, if after the blow it keeps the seeds, then your dad is not bald!
Hehehe it was funny, I used to do it a lot when I was a child! :P

but also sometimes you can wish something to these! but if you want the truth, who started this was someone that wanted to make your garden full of these! :))
I dont wish none a plant like this! =)
once in your garden, is almost impossible to get rid of
LOL
