OMG RUTH! You could CAtch them! wow! I Have tried yesterday again and It still very hard! they fly too bast and they are constantly moving! They are super cute!I love them, (after hoverflies of course), I've seen many lately! maybe because my grandmother had put this year flowers that are nice to them :) The point is that they are sooooooooooooooooo little :D when I firstly see them on internet, they look sooooo big, like normal bees, but nooo, they are sooo little! maybe only 5mm !! they are cute , cute cute! they make me remember hair balls! :D the balls that young girls use in the boots in the winter! do you know?! Alright so you asked me to help you, so here are my guessings!:D 1st is hard to say because they dont show the wings! I mean the wings are not stoped, and to ID them easly the wings should be stoped! but anyway, my guesses are: 1# 3# 5# - Bombylius major 2# 4# - Bomylius discolor For sure you have found 2 diffrent bee flies! Alright I choose those because they are the most comun and also because they are more alike the pics i've seen! please check these Bee flies that are in spain and portugal (but most of them, are only in spain): B. cinerascens B. flavipes B. fumosus - This is only seen in spain B. pallens B. pardalotus B. venosus B. = Bombylius But I think my guess is right! :) :P We never are 100% when we try to ID some insect!:D AMAZING SHOTS RUTH! I'm adding 4# in my favorites because it is super cute!:D
