I caught Kung Fu Panda at Tampines Mall today! Yeah, I guess that movie is old news but give me a break. I just came back to Singapore.
I thought that the movie was great! Except for the fact that Po's (the panda) father was a goose. That didn't quite work for me.
The best animated character would be Master Oogway (tortoise). It was amazing how the animators managed to capture the mannerisms and eye expression of those old Kung Fu masters and put them into Master Oogway. The camera work of Tai Lung breaking out of jail totally rocked!
If character animators animate the characters, who animates the 3D camera?
Anyway, after the movie, I was all motivated to start animating again. I realised that I have never animated a character doing simple acrobatics such as a somersault or a cartwheel.
I proceeded to Toys "R" Us to see if there were any Kung Fu Panda collectables. As I walked in, I was greeted with FOUR SHELVES OF WALL-E TOYS! To keep this entry short, I spent about 40 minutes (includes walking around Toy "R" Us) deciding on which Wall-E to buy!
Outcome
InterAction Wall-E: S$69.90
He lights up, moves, speaks, reacts to your voice and interacts with Eve!
InterAction Eve: S$69.90
She lights up, moves, speaks, reacts to your voice and interacts with Wall-E!
iDance Wall-E: S$59.90
He hooks up to your MP3 player, lights up, moves, speaks and reacts to your voice!
OK. They all seem to be doing the same thing. But it is freaking cool! You have to check them out at Toys "R" Us to know what I mean.
Total damage: S$199.70 and automatically become a Star Loyalty member.
I am still eyeing another Wall-E that is equipped with an infrared controller and it cost S$100! Please? Someone? Currently unemployed and birthday coming up in 3 months time.
